You lucky one! Who are the Marcelline Sisters? I imagine so well that you enjoyed Saranda. It is indeed a magical place. Up to now unfortenately I have been only once to Saranda, but even long time before I felt a strong bound towards that town. When my interest for Albania began in 1994, the first story I wrote about an Albanian topic was about Saranda (if you understand German or Albanian, you can read it in my Saranda mailinglist). And in autumn 1998, before my visit to Saranda on January 10 1999, I wrote a whole poetry book with the title "Forty deaths in Saranda", which then got published in Tirana. > I am an italian lawyer, 29 years, im from Lecce. I am a freelance interpreter and translator and also a part-time Caritas employee at the Kosova Information Center, 29 years, too, living in Stuttgart, and I am a board member of the German Cultural Center in Saranda. > This is my first post on this ML so id like to know something who created this > list, how many > subscriber are in it, who generally are them, why are them interested in Saranda > topic... I don't know either ... this is not a very active list ... Please feel free to join the mailing list I created about the "pearl of the Ionian Sea": "Saranda Saranda". You can find it and subscribe at www.egroups.com/group/saranda It is about tourism, culture, etc ... it would be great if you could tell about your experiences and impressions in Saranda. (By the way, the same is true for the listmembers who have also been to Saranda - heja Norge - and especially for our Sarandian listmembers !!) In this egroup, you can also find some pictures made by Dag Steinum when he went to Saranda in May. Do you have any digital or scanned photos of Saranda? Well, in this group you may find some useful information for your next trip to Saranda, to the "sunny earth", as the Sarandian writer Sulejman Mato writes in my favourite poem of him. (By the way: in the Files/Books section there are now some book titles, mainly in Albanian, by Sarandian authors, and I added also some links.) > Id like to know more and eventually meet some of you in Saranda, where maybe > i will be in Aug. I'll go to Albania only in the second half of September, when there will be the great Folklore Festival in Gjirokastra. perhaps I'll pop over for a trip to Saranda. Then I plan celebrating my 30th birthday in Saranda, on December 13th. > I'd like also to know if there is a internet service provider in Saranda, > and if it's possible to connect to internet from that wonderful town... I know of only one homepage without any link which is from Saranda. As for the internet, I don't know ... there are Albanian internet providers, Albaniaonline or Adanet. Some organisations have Internet access: the Lidia Foundation, the Butrint Foundation (Auron Tare) ... perhaps they allow you to use the internet ... The German Cultural Center doesn't have internet yet, "in Summer" ... perhaps next year ... kush e di ... > i'm tuned, i hope to receive from you soon > ale Mirupafshim ne Saranden e bukur!
