List: Prizren-L[Prizren-l] A Kosovo PoemRFPinckney at aol.com RFPinckney at aol.comWed Dec 5 15:26:53 EST 2001
Hi, I wrote this while working with refugee children in Kosova. Our team was in Prizren during August/September 1999. Thought I would share it. Rick Children of Kosovo Children of Kosovo, you've felt the demon's wrath. You fled amidst the terror, on a long and treacherous path. You know the pangs of hunger, and the agony of grief. Family and friends stolen away, when death became the thief. You no longer took for granted, the simple things in life. When all your toys had been replaced, by the gun and by the knife. War is the worst of hell, the children suffer most. The children of Kosovo, will be haunted by it's ghost. Your eyes have seen the worst of man, your hearts have felt the pain. And through it all you carried hope, to be be children once again. We've given you but little, you taught us all so much. We learned about compassion, and the power in a touch. We will never forget you, our dear and loving friends. Your memory will live in us, until eternity ends. By: R. Pinckney 1999 PCUSA/Kids Care Team
