[NYC-L] Macedonia and Language

Could the Macedonian government and the rebels agree to English(or some
other language) as the "standard" language of Macedonia while the different
ethnic groups maintain their native tongue?

It would be a 30-50 year process.  Everyone would communicate in a third
language.  The ethnic languages would still be taught but the "Standard"
language would be the primary language taught in all schools.

There are several countries in the world that have this set-up.  India for
one.
