Program Assistant for Central/Eastern European and Balkans Programs

Nonprofit, professional local government association based in Washington, DC, seeking 
program assistant for its programs in Central/Eastern Europe and the Balkans.  Duties: 
provide administrative, logistical, and programmatic support for international municipal 
partnerships, working with program managers, long and short-term consultants, US and 
international municipal officials, and international partner organizations; maintain 
program files and track program expenditures; assist in the preparation of budgets, grants 
and proposals; conduct research for program-related activities; coordinate study tours and 
other training programs.  REQUIRES: Bachelor's degree in International 
Relations/Development, Political Science, Public Administration or related field; 2-3 
years related work experience on programs in the region; exceptional written and oral 
communication skills; strong organizational and time management skills; workshop 
coordination and logistics experience; grant/proposal writing; proof reading or editing 
skills; computer skills (including all MS Office 2000 programs). PREFERS: experience 
working on USAID-funded contracts and grants; proficiency in a regional language; 
experience living and working in the region. SALARY:  based on experience and
