Can anyone help? To: Othereurope <othereurope at columbia.edu> Subject: FW: Looking for Book Reviewers on Eastern European/Balkan women from: Linda Shult [lshult at library.wisc.edu] Hello there, We need to locate a reviewer for several books on Eastern European/Balkan women. Our publication is Feminist Collections: A Quarterly of Women's Studies Resources, which includes book and video reviews, news of new periodicals, Internet websites and email lists, reference works, and other items of interest to women's studies teachers, researchers, and students. We were originally planning for this review for our Spring 2000 issue, but the reviewer we had scheduled came up with some severe health problems and has had to cancel her contribution. So we're having to push the review to a later issue at this point, and are thinking about the Fall 2000 issue (with deadline approx. June 1, but somewhat flexible). The reviewer is returning the books to us so we can send them along to you shortly, if you're interested. We would be happy to send you a copy of Feminist Collections if you're not familiar with it Some of our book reviews and columns appear on our website (http://www.library.wisc.edu/libraries/WomensStudies/). Length of a review would be from 1,000 - 1,500 words (4-6 pages double-spaced). Here are the books we have in mind for a kind of review essay: Gender Politics in the Western Balkans: Women Society, and Politics in Yugoslavia and the Yugoslav Successor States, ed. by Sabrina P. Ramet (Penn State, 1999) Women in Modern Albania: Firsthand Accounts of Culture and Conditions from Over 200 Interviews, by Susan E. Pritchett Post (McFarland, 1998) Women in the Politics of Postcommunist Eastern Europe, ed. by Marilyn Rueschemeyer (Sharpe, 1998) We would greatly appreciate your suggesting a person or two whom you believe could do a good job with this review, or passing along the request to someone who might make some good reviewer suggestions. Thanks very much! o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o=o Linda Shult, Editor Office of the University of Wisconsin System Women's Studies Librarian 430 Memorial Library, 728 State St. Madison, WI 53706 USA 608-263-5754 lshult at library.wisc.edu
