Position Title: Win NT/2000 Administrator
Department: Computer Services- Central Office

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position requires experience in the administration of
a
Win NT/2000 environment with demonstrated success in
implementation,
customization, backup and support of a Win NT/2000
environment. Must
be able to:
* Administer, analysis, implement, maintain and
coordinate all
aspects of a Win NT/2000 server/enviromnent.
* Under supervision, with some latitude for independent
initiative
and judgement, performs work in one or more computer or
communications areas, e.g., operations, programming,
systems
analysis, communications, user services and training,
and repairs
and technical support.
* Supervises personnel performing routine computer and
communication functions.
* All personnel perform related work.
Examples of Typical Tasks:
* Plans and develops backup of servers and restore
procedures and
ensures appropriate implementation and scheduling.
* Provide high level technical support on networking
issues to
Central Office CUNY.
* Serve as a technical resource for related aspects of
computer
hardware, software, networking and applications.
* Assists as a technical resource in all aspects of
systems,
networks, and communications.
* Assists in troubleshooting, repairing and/or replacing
solid state
devices, including equivalent substitution of
semiconductor
components; DC power switching supplies; video monitors
and
associated circuitry; server motors and feeback loops;
electromechanical devices; printed circuit boards,
including IC
circuits of all types; floppy disk drives;
serial/parallel
printers and central processing units, etc.
* Develops and ensures security procedures for computer
software and
data.
* Performs preventive maintenance on all equipment;
transports and
installs all components locally or at remote locations.
* Upgrades hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
* Differentiates between hardware and software problems
and makes
recommendations for appropriate corrections.
* Respond to all requests for technical assistance or
information;
refers such requests to supervisor as appropriate.
* May contact and interact with vendors to acquire and
implement
software upgrades and equipment maintenance.
* Maintains records of work in progress and work
completed, and
prepares appropriate reports as required.
* Must keep abreast of the latest developments in the
field of
computer and communication technology.
Qualifications:
A+, MSCE, or /and CNE certification preferred.
Salary:$30,000 to $ 40,000 based on experience and salary
history.
