The Albanian Institute for International Studies has just produced its latest publication: "Dissolution of Yugoslavia and the case of Kosova" by Enver Hasani. The book explores the causes leading to Yugoslavia's disintegration and describes the tragic aftermath of its bloody break-up. The author undertakes a thorough analysis of the centrifugal processes, thus shedding light on the genesis of the violent disruption. The author also reflects on the reaction of the International Community at the Hague Peace Conference and goes on with an analysis of the criteria for recognition of the newly independent states in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. The process is further complemented with a detailed analysis of the Kosova case highlighting the London Conference on former Yugoslavia, the Banditer Commission, the right to self-determination and the Kosova case. Whether Kosova had received authority to self-determination, or had the London Conference failed, are some of the questions answered in this book following up with an exploration of the perspectives of the Dayton Agreement on the Kosova issue. The book relies on extensive literature on international relations as well as on the various contributions about the last decade developments in the Balkans. Enver Hasani, a former professor of international law at the Prishtina University, received his Ph.D. on international relations at the Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey. A member of the leading Board of the Albanian Institute on International Studies, the author appears regularly in international journals. Enver Hasani was on the Albanian delegation at the Rambouillet Conference as an expert on international law. The first complete analysis on the Yugoslav disintegration and the Kosova case by an Albanian scholar, the book is primarily meant for scholars and academic institutions such as the Academy of Sciences; research policy centers; media specializing on international relations; the press at large, but also for the wide public. While the Albanian version was made available earlier, the English version has just come out of press.
