The National Albanian American Council is proud to announce that it has named Mr. Janusz Bugajski as Senior Political Advisor to NAAC. Mr. Bugajski is the director of the Eastern Europe Project at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington D.C. and he will serve as a strategic link between CSIS and NAAC. Mr. Bugajski will advise NAAC on issues affecting Eastern Europe generally and the Balkans specifically, but will remain independent of NAAC and will not receive remuneration for his role. "We are honored to formalize our relationship with Mr. Bugajski. He is a leading thinker and analyst of issues that affect the Balkans and brings a global perspective to what can seem like local issues. The depth and breadth of his experience and acumen is a valuable resource that will better enable NAAC to analyze it's own positions, developments in the Balkans, as well as U.S. and international policies towards the Balkans," stated Executive Director Martin Vulaj. NAAC and CSIS through Mr. Bugajski have collaborated on a number of projects in the past including co-sponsoring panel discussions on issues in Albania and Kosova. They are currently fleshing out plans to co-sponsor a conference on the Future of Kosova this November. Mr. Bugajski brings with him a rich experience accumulated during his distinguished career. He was a senior research analyst for Radio Free Europe in Munich, served as a consultant to USAID, the U.S. Department of Defense, IRI, IREX, and BBC television. He is the author of countless articles and several books including Ethnic Politics in Eastern Europe and Nations in Turmoil which was recognized by Choice as an outstanding academic book. Mr. Bugajski received the Distinguished Public Service Award from the U.S. Department of State, USAID, USIA and the Arms Control Disarmament Agency in recognition of his contribution to international affairs. Mr. Bugajski holds an M. Phil. in social anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
