Grants Awarded for 2002-2003: Europe: 10 Eurasia: 15 Cross-regional: 1 --------------------------------- Coordination of Individual Advanced Research Grants with Department of Education Grants Research applicants in modern foreign languages and area studies are encouraged to apply simultaneously for Fulbright-Hays grants under the "Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad" Program (CFDA Catalog No. 84.022) or "Faculty Research Abroad" Program (CFDA Catalog No. 84.019) of the US Department of Education (DOE). The purpose of this policy is to assure the most efficient use of existing funds for overseas study and research. IREX awards are made independently of these DOE awards. Should an applicant receive both grants, benefits received under each program will be coordinated. DOE Application Procedure: Prospective graduate-level applicants should obtain forms from the graduate dean's office or the DOE representative at their current institutions. Faculty-level applicants should obtain forms from their employing institutions. In both cases, applicants submit forms directly to those institutions and not to DOE. If forms are not available, the appropriate university official should request them from Higher Education Programs, US Department of Education, 1900 K Street, NW, Washington, DC 20006. Graduate students should address inquiries to Karla Ver Bryck Block, telephone: (202) 502-7632. Faculty members should address inquiries to Eliza Washington, telephone: (202) 502-7633. Their web site is http://www.ed.gov/offices/OPE/HEP/iegps/. Deadlines: DOE Application deadlines, usually in early August, are listed in the Federal Register. Note: These Department of Education awards should not be confused with the Fulbright programs administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) or the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES). 2121 K Street NW, Suite 700, Washington, DC 20037 Tel: (202) 628-8188 · Fax: (202) 628-8189 Website inquires: webmaster at irex.org General inquires: irex at irex.org --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
