Stability Pact
The sixth meeting of the Working Table on Democratisation and Human Rights
took place in Istanbul on 12-13 June 2002. The meeting focused on regional co-operation, local democracy and history teaching and provided an update on the work of the Task Forces. Participants welcomed progress made by the Task Force Education and Youth and agreed on the future activities, presented by the TF for 2002. The Chairman's conclusions of the meeting are available on http://www.stabilitypact.org.

6th Conference of the European Ministers of Education:
Education in the New Millenium. The Development of Education Policies Over the Next 10 years. Bratislava, 16 - 18 June 2002.
The conference followed previous meetings in Warsaw, Prague, Budapest, Bucharest and Riga, organised as part of the commonly agreed pre-accession strategy and aiming at strengthening the informal political dialogue between Ministers from the European Union and the candidate countries, as well as EFTA/EEA countries and the countries of South-East Europe. Representatives from the European Parliament, the Council of the European Union, the European Commission, the Council of Europe, OECD, UNESCO and the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe also attended the meeting.

OECD Kosovo Education Conference
Pristina, 9-12/6/2002. The conference was organised by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo in co-operation with the OECD and the Task Force Education and Youth of the Stability Pact for Southeast Europe.

QuickStart Projects 2000-2002 / Press Kit
In total 44 projects in the field of education and youth contribute to the overall aims of the Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe to "secure lasting peace, prosperity and stability for South Eastern Europe, foster effective regional co-operation and give firm European anchorage to the region".

Research Fellow
The Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) is recruiting a Research Fellow with expertise on the Balkans and/or the European Union to work in the framework of an EU funded 2-year project on: "Functional Borders and Sustainable Security: Integrating the Balkans in the European Union." 

Research Competition
CERGE-EI, with financial support provided by the World Bank through the Global Development Network and additional funding provided by the Government of Austria for the South-East European region, announces a research competition in all fields of the social sciences.

Roman Herzog Research Fellowship
The fellowship will enable young highly qualified scholars with outstanding leadership qualities in research and teaching from central and south-east Europe (including the Baltic States) to carry out research projects of  their own choice in Germany.

Student Writing Competition
The theme of the competition is The Role of the Rule of Law in Addressing Gender Based Discrimination in the Emerging Democracies of Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union.
