Rare tomb discovered in northern Greece Athens Greek archaeologists have unearthed an ancient Macedonian tomb dating from the time of Alexander the Great in northern Greece, the Athens News Agency (ANA) said Tuesday. The tomb measuring 2.28 by 2.35 metres dates back to Hellenistic times, about 330-150 BC, and was discovered near the northern Greek town of Ioannina. Archaeologists unearthed the tomb along an ancient road. "The monument is of special archaeological importance and is extremely rare," ANA quoted the Culture Ministry as saying. Reports said the building had been looted by antiquities smugglers and contained no artefacts. -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed
