From: Greek Helsinki Monitor <office at g...> Date: Sun Jul 28, 2002 5:21 pm Subject: Greece: Court Wants Alien Deported "Because He Is a Muslim and Turkey Uses Muslims in Greece to Raise Claims" Prin [leftist weekly] 14-7-02 Deport him since he is a Muslim! First Instance Court Ruling. .... Zia Zialrehman filed an application for political asylum via his lawyer on July 1st, 2002, while at the same time he filed written objections against the decision of the director of the Aliens' Sub-directorate of Thessaloniki over his deportation. The 6th department of the Administrative First Instance Court of Piraeus discussed about the written objections on July 3rd. The president in charge, the first instance court judge N.S. (his name is at the disposal of the newspaper) rejected the written objections and decided that "his political asylum application should be denied" and Zia Zialrehman remain in detention, so as to be repatriated to his country or deported in another country, because "he is a danger for the public order and national security and also suspected to escape"!! "Moreover the defendant, being a Muslim by religion and coming or sent from Turkey (since it was the last country from which he passed through), is therefore also a suspect as being dangerous for the national security of Greece, towards which, as is commonly known, the above-mentioned neighboring country shows everything but respect, since it uses the Muslims in Greece in order to raise territorial or other kinds of claims."!! ...... --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!?
