Turkey Tackles Cham Issue

TIRANA - Tirana’s taboo issue of the chiefly Moslem Chams who were forced to leave Greece for Albania or Turkey from the First World War was pressed upon by Turkey’s Foreign Ministry in a statement and report at the weekend. The Chams lived in an ethnically-mixed area in north-western Greece, and were expelled in two waves, when Athens was awarded the Epirus region from the Balkan Wars of the 1912-1914 period
