Albanian party sees border incidents as harmful to Albanian cause Source: Dnevnik, Skopje, in Macedonian 24 Feb 01 p 3 Text of report by Macedonian newspaper Dnevnik on 24 February "Macedonia's northern border has come under attack from uncontrolled criminal groups that pose a threat to all the citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, especially to the Albanians themselves. Their actions are not linked to attempts to achieve certain political goals, but rather to aggravate interethnic relations in Macedonia," DPA [Democratic Party of Albanians, PDSh in Albanian] spokesman Ernad Feizulahu told Dnevnik. According to him, the attacks by the opposition parties in the country are aimed at "toppling the government and branding a separate entity as a destabilizing factor in the region". "Through the OVK [Kosovo Liberation Army - UCK in Albanian] saga, the Albanians put an end to the military phase. Today, some criminals try to hide behind the OVK's name, which used to be highly respected by the international community," Feizulahu said. In the spokesman's opinion, the international community knows that "this is an attempt to isolate the Albanians" so as to enable certain centres to regain their positions in the region. The leadership of the second largest party of Albanians in Macedonia believed that Georgievski's government should cooperate more seriously with UNMIK [UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo] in Kosovo and with the political representatives of the Kosovo Albanians. The PDP [Party for Democratic Prosperity, PPD in Albanian] felt that the armed actions on Macedonia's northern border should not be allowed to influence the attitude towards all the Albanians in the region. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
