GRADUATE STUDIES COURSE IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION AND LOCAL GOVERNANCE Prishtina, Kosova, March 12-25, 2001 The Graduate Studies Course in Public Administration and Local Governance will be organized by the Albanian Political Science Association (ALPSA), Prishtina, Kosova. It will take place in Prishtina, Kosova, on March 12-25, 2001. The program will comprise of two courses: Theories and Practices of Public Administration, and Principles of Local Governance. It will accept 25 participants (university students, professionals and others) from Kosova and Albania. The language of instruction will be English. Both courses will be taught by renown international scholars in the pertinent fields. Objectives of the Course The main objective of the program is to promote contemporary scholarly approaches and professional studies and research in these specific fields of public administration among top students and young professionals; set the background for curricula development at the University of Prishtina; introduce new fields and methods of study; familiarize participants with contemporary western and Anglo-Saxon literature in these subjects; and contribute to young faculty development in Kosova. Successful realization of these objectives will be achieved through close co-operation with the departments and programs of social sciences of universities in Kosova; western resource persons who will teach in the graduate course, and the young Kosovar political scientists who will lead tutorials and seminars.
