These events should not come to us as a surprise. 
Frankly, I was expecting things to eventually take a bloody turn. 
The responsibility lies with both side of the political spectrum, the
democrats as well as the socialists. I agree with Prime Minister Meta when
he says that all the efforts to overthrow the democratic institutions by
force will be met with force. That is the way a democratic state should act.
But isn't exactly this that his Party (socialist party) did in March of 1997
with that "Bolshevik" style coup-d'eta that they staged. 
I do not see any difference in these two parties. They are made out of the
same fabric.
I am disgusted with the present Albanian political class. God help Albania
because Albanians are not !

Five killed in northern Albanian police shootout






TIRANA, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Five Albanians were killed on Tuesday in the 
northern Albanian town of Bajram Curri after gunmen attacked the local 
police station, police said. "Today at midday a group of bandits attacked 
the police station and some other state institutions. As a result of the 
clashes there have been some killed and some injured on the side of the 
bandits," Prime Minister Ilir Meta told reporters. Police said separately 
that the dead included one policeman and that the gunmen had been 
participating in a rally of the opposition Democratic Party of former 
President Sali Berisha. Bajram Curri lies in the mountainous region of 
Tropoje which borders on the Yugoslav province of Kosovo, and which is 
largely outside government control.
