EU-BALKANS: SUMMIT, PRESIDENT MEJDANI DISAPPOINTED, ALBANIA FORGOTTEN

(ANSA)- Zagreb, 24 NOV- The Albanian president Rexhep Mejdani during his 
speech at the EU-Balkans summit has
expressed his disappointment over the failure of EU to keep its promises to 
Albania. This was confirmed by sources inside the Albanian delegation in 
Zagreb. According to Mejdani "none of the promises made were kept" and now 
the process of Albania's application for admission in the EU will be 
prolongued even further. For Albania the EU has forseen to mandate a 
commission that would set the means and time for a future ascenssion of 
Albania to the EU. After the opening remarks of the French president Jacques 
Chirac and of the president of European Commission Romano Prodi, the summit 
continues in a closed door session.

(ANSA) - ZAGABRIA, 24 NOV - Il presidente albanese Rexjep Mejdani durante il 
discorso al vertice Ue-Balcani di Zagabria ha espresso la sua ''delusione'' 
per ''le promesse non rispettate'' dell'Unione europea. Lo si e' appreso da 
fonti della delegazione albanese a Zagabria. Secondo Mejdani ''tutte le 
promesse fatte non sono state rispettate'' e ora l'Albania dovra' aspettare 
ancora molto tempo per l'adesione all' Ue. Per l'Albania l'Unione europea ha 
previsto di istituire una commissione che dovra' stabilire i modi e i tempi 
per una futura associazione ai Quindici. Dopo i discorsi di apertura del 
presidente francese Jacques Chirac e del presidente della commssione europea 
Romano Prodi, i lavori del vertice proseguono a porte chiuse. (ANSA). VD/MGA
