List: ALBSA-Info[ALBSA-Info] Intellectuals leaving Albania!Ilir Kullolli ikullolli at hotmail.comThu May 18 12:32:48 EDT 2000
ok.. edhe mesazhi ne vijim eshte marre nga Agjencia Telegrafike Shqiptare. Me sa lexova, pashe qe flet per largimin e intelektualeve nga Shqiperia! TIRANA, May 17 (ata) - By P Shuteriqi: Albania takes the first place for the number of the intellectuals in the postcommunist countries emigrating to other states, said the President of Albania, Rexhep Meidani in a meeting held on Wednesday in Tirana. He demanded that this negative phenomena in our new democratic society must be refrained. Speaking before intellectuals and representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tirana, the President presented his options so that these negative consequences be turned into positive values for the present and perspective development of the country. Prof.dr. Meidani considered the intellectual losses, the falling of the civic and democratic potential of the Albanian society during the past 10 years, "a negative influence of the policy of tension and aggressiveness." In the mean time, he expressed the optimism that "Albanian intelligentsia will take new dimensions in their engagement in the civic and democratic processes, embodied in the Stability Pact, introducing advanced technologies in production, administration, education, culture, health sector, civil society." Mr Meidani also demanded solutions in order to compensate "the human leakage." "All the competent structures or institutions, he stressed, must be committed to hold back and limit the effects of this wound of Albanian transition period." ________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com
