(Address 260 Park Avenue South -sixth floor Conference Room). Teachers, former teachers, paraprofessionals, school aids are welcome to attend. The focus of the meeting will be to plan a few events in May or June and to make plans for the next academic event. If there are any questions, please feel free to write to Mr. Mithat Gashi at mg558 at columbia.edu The UFT-Albanian American Teachers Committee was founded on October 31, 1997. It is a group of educators working in the New York City public schools. It is affiliated with the United Federation of Teachers of New York City. Some of the objectives of this Committee are: -to promote cultural awareness among ethnic groups; -to assist Albanian parents to better understand the educational system in NYC; -to work with other committees and associations of the UFT to promote cultural awareness and engender friendly relations among other ethnic groups -to assist Albanian-Americans to integrate in the U.S.; -to promote teachers education profession in the Albanian Community; -to celebrate the heritage and culture of Albania in November around the national holiday of Albanian (flag day). We invite all Albanians who teach in the New York City public schools to attend the meeting.
