Albanian Studies Discussion List (ALST-L@alb-net.com) Introduction
==================================================================

This list has been made inactive starting Aug 2003. You may want to subscribe to other related lists at

The Albanian Studies Discussion List (ALST-L) is a specialized mailing list
created to serve as a means of networking and communication between
students (undergraduate and graduate), scholars, and professionals
interested or engaged in the field of Albanian Studies: the study of
Albanian history, language, politics, society, economy, and other related
fields of social science.

The purpose of the list is to serve stricly as a means for exchange of
academic and scholarly information. It is not intended for the discussion
of day-to-day political developments. For that, you may wish to join the
ALBANIAN Discussion List
(http://listserv.acsu.buffalo.edu/archives/albanian.html).

ALST-L is unmoderated. The list seeks to accomodate a variety of
ideological and theoretical approaches and schools of thought. Because
disagreements are bound to arise, all members are expected to adhere to
basic rules of netiquette (Internet ethics) when communicating. A good
guide to netiquette can be found at http://www.albion.com/netiquette

The editorial style will be similar to one appropriate for a journal
(written text) and a round table discussion at a professional meeting
(short exchanges between colleagues). The main issue is to maintain a high
level of professionalism, in content and form, so that everyone has access and
can benefit. This is not a plan for uniformity or consensus, but ground
rules for a dynamic exchange of ideas and information in which agreements
and conflicts can be experienced and learned from as well.

Feel free to use this list in any way you deem appropriate (of course,
within the bounds of its intended purpose and scope). For any comments or
suggestions about the list's operation, please contact the list owner at
besnik@alb-net.com.
