SERBIAN MASSACRES

Civilian population, taken massively as hostages in Prishtina

Pristina, March 31st (Kosovapress) Today, in the evening, about 18°°o`clock, serbian forces went in the street „Hasan Prishtina",Medresja e Vjetėr, theater „Dodona", and in the "Bllokun e Parė" of the buildings in Taukbashqe, and they took out from their houses all the inhabitans and they directed them to the center of the city. About midday, serbian forces, took out from their houses, by using force, inhabitants of "Xhemail Ibishi" street. The column was long, from "Medieval Re", till the monument in the center of the city. After this, they have sent them, in the direction of stadium .

Massive desertions from the Serbian criminal military (Ferizaj)

Ferizaj, April 1st (Kosovapress) Before few days, in Nerodime, four members of family Nuha; Osmani, Agroni, Bajrami and Ibrahimi have been kindapped by serbian police and their house has been burnt. In Nerodime Eperme, four villages have been burnt.Before last night, villages of Pleshina and Manastirci have been bombarded, and as result, Ismet Dinolli (65)f rom Pleshina,was wounded. Before few days, in his house, Haki Braha (48) was kidnapped, he was journalist and activist of syndicate.From one grenade threw in the direction of Babushi, the child Artan (Rexhep) Rexhepi (16), has been killed, while Ymer, Adem, Avni and Shyqeri Selmani, are beeing wounded from another grenade shoot from the military quarter of Ferizaj in the direction of the center of the city. In thee Pleshina road, Ramush Salihu and his son Fatmiri, are being wounded.In the city of Ferizaj, over than 250 albanian locals are destroyed,pillaged and burnt.Even the former seat of OSCE Mission in Ferizaj and many other houses of this city. Today in the afternoon, five serbian tanks were positioned in Koshare.In the afternoon, three serbian military trucks and one cooler, full of with things that have been pillaged by albanians aree being seen. A gig part of the city population and the population of the villages around, is being displaced and they are staying in open areas.Fled population is going in the direction of the zones controlled by KLA. There is a big concentration of the population in the villages of: Ternė, Kosoinė and Lloshkobare, but in Jezerc too. Even after the serbian ultimatum addressed to the inhabitants of Balajve, to leave their house ,they have not moved yet,except one quarter that was in danger. Today, about midday, fierce NATO air strikes took place above the military quarter of Ferizaj, which is completely destroyed now. While, there are massive desertions among the soldiers of serbian military.

War chronicle of Shtime

Serbian police station is in school, and not in the police station (Shtime)
Shtime, March 31st (Kosovapress) There are confirmations that Muharrem Ademaj from Shtimja, who was kidnapped in March 25 has been released yesterday. His house, which was the seat of the OSCE Mission before few months, is burnt.Over than 43 locals of this small town are being destroyed, pillaged and burnt. Even the store and the Ambulance „None Tereza", in Shtime, and the localities of KLMDNJ-ės, are burnt,too.Then, two pharmacies, four private ambulances and many other locals are burnt,too. Ther are three albanians people being wounded by grenades in Shtime: Gani, Shaqir and Bajram Hoxha, all these persons are old age people Yesterday,late in the evening, in the center of Shtime, there were placed three serbian military tanks,while 10-12 tanks are placed between the Elementary Scool, police station and the Health house, but they are hidden with planks and ground. During yesterdays air strikes alarm, all tanks were hidden with corn straw. The alarm signals are the same with the sound of orthodox church bell. Serbian sharpshooters are placed on the top of roof of the mini market of Shtimja, in the roof of the Elektrokosova seat, on hte roof of Communal Assembly and in the roof of "Meha" buffe. In Shtime, the empty houses of albanians are under endlessly pillage, and some of famest serbian reservists who are committing these crimes are: Bogi, Momi, Zvonku, Qeda, Jova, Nenadi and many others, and they are helped by other military serbians. Their police stations now are in Elementary school of Shtime, nearby the Gėshtėnjave hill(chestnut hill). Over than 25.000 fled inhabitants from Shtimja and other environs are being concentrated in Rashincė, Muzeqinė, Vojnovc, Gjurkoc and Davidoc, while the other part who have decided to stay in Kosova, have gone in the regions controlled by KLA. The Command oe Nerodima Zone of KLA, is helpping these people to arrange shelters for them and to supply them with food ,clothes and medical materials.

Kidnappings, grenades and bombardments (Kaēanik)

Kaēanik, March 31st (Kosovapress) It is confirmed that during these days, Fadil Runjeva, from Runjeva of Kaēaniku, has been kidnapped and there are no in formations about his fate.As result of the serbian bombardments in the Duraj, village on March 27th, a woman of Ilaz Salihu, and a young boy,age 20 are being wounded. There are reports that the factory of blocks „Silkapor", nearby Kaēanikut, has been under new bombardments.

Hyre Sylė Gashi, has been killed during serbian bombardments (Arllat Village)

Arllat, April 1st (Kosovapress) Yesterday, during serbian bombardments, Hyre Sylė Gashi, 62 years old from Vėrmica, has been killed during her attempt to withdraw with the population of the Vėrmica village.She was buried yesterday in his village Gurbardhė. In the village of Arllat, an old man was massacred,his name is Latif Emrush Bujupi, old 70th, while his wife Sabrije Bujupi is taken as hostage. This news is confirmed by their son Murat Bujupi.

Terpeza is under new bombardments (Malishevė)

Malishevė, April 1st (Kosovapress) About 9.oo o`clock, new serbian bombardments have started, from their positions nearby Terpeza in the direction of Terpeza.The bombardments are very fierce,and there considerable damages. While even today, there new reinforcements and moving of the serbian military convey full of tanks and other armoured vehicles in the direction of Komorani ,gorge of Llapushnik, Malisheva and Peja.

Crimes in Vushtrri, are lead by an inspector called Janiq (Shalė)

Shalė, April 1st (Kosovapress) Ali Bojku 61 years old from Druari, was killed by serbian terrorist police. Aliu was wounded in Postarė and he died in the KLA hospital from his grave wounds. In Pegaj, Veli Parduzi was killed too. Serbian sharpshooters in Vushtrri are placed at Poleti. In this small town, all this terror is caused by a serbian gangs, headed by inspector Janiq. In spite of this, population of the Vushtrri is determined and self organized to stay in their houses. In Shipol and Zhabarė, the population is coming back although their houses have been pillaged and burnt. Yesterday serbian attacks in the Operatuve Zone of Shala have been retreated successfuly by units of KLA. Sector for information OF the Operative Zone of Shala disproof the news that from Mitrovica, are placed in Zniq over than 70.000 fled people.

Some villages of Istog, under serbian bombardments (Istog)

Istog, April 1st (Kosovapress) Today, occupiers serbian forces have undertaken new attacks with granades over the villages of Vrellė, Studenicė and Sferkė. Soldiers of the Brigade 133 ,are keeping strong to their positions and they are ready to counter-reply to these attacks. Some time before, a great number of the fled people is being replaced in this zones, and because of the fear from this new attacks they have start to move in the direction of Rozhaja. At 11°°o`clock,in Zagermė, and in some other fix places of the serbian occupiers in Pejė, NATO airplanes have undertake new bombings. It is considered that serbian forces have undergo a defeat in techniques and in people too. The missiles systems, placed by the serbian military in Mokne (Mokra Gora), are not hit yet by the NATO forces.

The 15 members family of Bekė Cen Imerajt massacred (Istog)

Istog, April 1st (Kosovapress) On 28.03.1999 in Padalishtė, commune of Istog, serbian police and paramilitary forces massacred the 15 member family of Bekė Cen Imerajt. The massacred persons belong different ages, starting from the oldest one, 72 years old to the youngest one, only 2 year old child.First the police took them out from their house and after that they massacred all of them. The massacred people are:

Hasan Imeraj, age 50
Muhamet Imeraj, age 20
Mane Imeraj, age 70 (female)
Bekė Imeraj, age 50
Feride Imeraj, age 20 (female)
Florije Imeraj, age 18 (female)

Ardita Imeraj, age 11 (female)
Afrim Imeraj, age 2
Mihane Imeraj, age 72 (female)
Fetije Imeraj, age 40 (female)
Xhylfidane Imeraj, age 14 (female)
Ardiana Imeraj, age 12 (female)
And the wife of Zejnunit, age 30 , but we could not confirm her name.

New bombardment with heavy artillery and earth-earth missiles (Llapushnik)

Llapushnik, April 1st (Kosovapress)
During all day,from early in the morning, fierce serbian attacks with heavy artillery and earth-earth missiles, were undertaken from Llapushniku gorge and Terpeza in the direction of Berishe and Katuni i Ri.Serbian army has shoot also in the positions where civilian population was gathered, but fortunately they have not been hit. Units of KLA are keeping strong to their positions by preventing serbian forces to enter in these places.

Two serbian military tanks and a truck are destroyed (Berishė)

During today's attempt by the Serb forces to penetrate in the areas where the Albanian IDP's are staying KLA units succesfully resisted the serbian criminal terrorist forces. It was reported that two serbian military tanks and a military truck were destroyed. Also, during yesterday's clashes, a military serbian truck was destroyed. In revenge, serbian criminal ēetniks, started shooting with grenades and by using tanks and rocket missiles, villages of Tėrpezė, Berishė, Katun i Ri.

NATO Statement on Kosova

STATEMENT TO THE PRESS BY THE SECRETARY GENERAL AT NEWS CONFERENCE ON 1 APRIL 1999

Good afternoon, Ladies and Gentlemen,

Together with SACEUR, I wanted to meet with you today to give you a full update on how NATO's Allied Force operation is progressing after just over one week of operations.

In just a moment, SACEUR and his team will brief you on the military aspects.

But first of all, I would like to stress that NATO's political goals remain the same:

-- first and foremost, we must stop the killing in Kosovo and the brutal destruction of human lives and properties;

-- secondly, we must put an end to the appalling humanitarian situation that is now unfolding in Kosovo and create the conditions for the refugees to be able to return;

-- thirdly, we must create the conditions for a political solution to the crisis in Kosovo based on the Rambouillet agreement.

These have been our objectives for a long time. We tried to achieve them through negotiations. At Rambouillet, President Milosevic had a unique opportunity to settle this issue through negotiations and on the basis of a balanced and fair peace agreement. But he rejected this agreement, even though it took Serbian as well as Kosovar Albanian interests into account. Instead he has been preparing for this ethnic cleansing for months now. Even before the talks in Paris ended, he had started his clean-and-sweep operations through Kosovo. He demonstrated that he was really only interested in a military solution, and totally on his terms. He left the Alliance no other option but to start military operations.

NATO has begun a difficult operation. But we believe that it is the right thing to do, and that it is our duty to do whatever we can to stop the killing in Kosovo. This is why every Ally has pledged its full support and will continue to do so.

NATO remains united and determined.

After one week of our air operations, I am confident that we are having a major impact on Belgrade's criminal war machine. We are degrading its ability to carry out the current acts of violence in Kosovo. And the scope and tempo of our operations are increasing all the time. I will now ask SACEUR to brief you in more detail.

So as you can see, the ring is closing around the Yugoslav armed forces.
The impact of our air campaign will be increasingly cumulative. This is an effective operation.
The current humanitarian tragedy is not a spontaneous reaction to NATO's air operations. It is the final chapter of a carefully planned and methodically executed strategy which started well before NATO decided to act.
There is only one person responsible for all of the refugees now flowing into the neighbouring countries, and that is Milosevic.
Every refugee testifies that Milosevic's soldiers drove them from their homes, not NATO bombs.
I am in daily contact with the leaders of the neighbouring countries. I have assured them of NATO's support and assistance during these difficult times.
NATO member Nations are actively providing humanitarian assistance to refugees in Albania and FYROM.
Already, shelter, blankets, clothes, food, medicine have been transported to the homeless victims of Milosevic's aggression.
Our Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre is actively assisting the UNHCR and we are deploying a NATO Liaison Officer to the UNHCR in Geneva to coordinate this assistance.
But it is clear that the only solution to the humanitarian crisis is a political settlement in Kosovo which will allow refugees to return home in safety. That political settlement will have to be underwritten by a NATO-led Peace Implementation Force.
President Milosevic will have to listen to NATO's message. As our pressure increases, he will be forced to stop his aggresion. NATO will stop only when he stops.
But this is not a situation that can be resolved in 24 or 48 hours.
We have never pretended otherwise.
As SACEUR has indicated, we will be successful but we will need stamina and determination.
What we have seen in Kosovo in the last few days is a direct challenge to all the values on which we are building our new undivided Europe.
Milosevic and his government are the antithesis of all we value.
So we cannot tolerate the behaviour of a more barbarous age in a Europe which is striving towards a more united and more enlightened future.
Our cause is a just one.
It is our duty to fulfill it.
